Overview
概論
There are 3 groups of verb in Japanese. Each of them has their own conjugation rules.
It is
easier to identify
their group with their
dictionary form (V3)
.

Group 1
I グループ
Identify: No る-tail
Most verbs in group 1
do not have る-tail
.
EXAMPLE
(in dictionary form)
:
Identify: -a, -u, -o +
る-tail
Some verbs in Group 1
have
る
-tail
.
Usually there is
a kana with -a, -u, -o sound
before
る
-tail
.

Group 1 verb

II グループ
Identify: -i, -e + る-tail
Unlike group 1,
verbs in group 2 usually have
a kana with -
i
, -e sound
before
る
-tail
.

While most -i
る
and -e
る
verbs belong to Group 2,
these verbs belong to Group 1.
Conjugation:
Hides
Tail
Group 2 verb
hides tail
during conjugation
, hence there is no changes on the
る
-tail.

Only 2 verbs
: する
& 来る
Technically, group 3 only has 2 verbs in the group: する、来る
.
However,
する is often paired with activity (noun) to form new verbs. All verbs formed by する is considered as Group 3 verbs.

during conjugation, hence there is also no changes on the
